Two men have received long sentences following the killing of a 38-year-old from Apsley in Hemel Hempstead, over a £10 drug payment...

Adam Watt, 38, from Evans Wharf, Apsley Lock, was attacked outside his home in the middle of the night after being confronted by Joseph Zulu, 23, and Nicholas Grant, 18.

Zulu was convicted of murdering Mr Watt outside his home in Hemel Hempstead and conspiracy to supply drugs, while Nicholas Grant was cleared of murder, but was found guilty of manslaughter and conspiracy to supply drugs at St Albans crown court yesterday.

The court heard how Mr Watt was attacked outside his home shortly after 1.10am on the morning of January 8 this year after being confronted by Zulu and Grant.

Brewin had driven them to near the address and then drove them away after the killing.

Prosecutor Rosina Cottage QC said Mr Watt had a troubled life and had been ‘unable to rid himself of drink and drug dependency.’

On the night of January 7, he took a taxi to Adeyfield where he walked down an alleyway before returning, shouting: ‘Run, run, run!’

The prosecutor said: ‘Mr Watt was in a state of some anxiety with someone chasing him. He was agitated and stressed.
