Mayor Peter Taylor has yet again sent another letter regarding how Watford targets are just too high.

Watford fails to meet high housing targets set by the government

In 2018-19 the target was increased from 313 to 798 new homes for Watford one of the smallest local authorities of only 8 square miles.

In the years 2020 and 2021, 672 homes were completed, just 48% of the housing target set by the national government’s Housing Delivery Test (HDT).

RIVERWELL

Following a topping out ceremony in September, Mayfield said 30 per cent of the properties that have gone to market have been sold or reserved.

Mayfield says its scheme will include a bar, bistro, swimming pool, village hall, fitness rooms, and spa.

MERIDEN

Currently, the Meriden Estate regeneration project has managed to complete 56 new housing units by the end of 2021. This includes 23 apartments in Plover House and Cygnet House, which will be filled by tenants on Watford Borough Council (WBC)’s Housing Register.

2022 should bring the completion of homes by the Turnstones and on Kingfisher Way, which will be more family-orientated.

A Community Hub, market square, additional apartments at Drake House and assisted living for older people (named ‘Flexi-care apartments).
