Sir Elton John is writing the music for The Devil Wears Prada musical

Elton John and writer Paul Rudnick are collaborating on a musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada for Broadway.

The show will be based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name, as well as the 2006 film, which starred Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. The book and film follow Andrea Sachs, a recent college graduate who rises the ranks at a high-end fashion magazine overseen by the brilliantly cutthroat Miranda Priestly.

"Reimagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theater is super exciting," said John. "I'm a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can't wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture."

A production timeline for The Devil Wears Prada will be announced at a later date. The musical is being produced by Broadway heavyweight Kevin McCollum, Fox Stage Productions and Rocket Entertainment.

He was Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 1947 in Pinner, Middlesex, England, UK.
