Peace Hospice Care Re-opens Inpatient Unit

Peace Hospice Care Re-opens Inpatient Unit

Today (Tuesday 18th April) Peace Hospice Care announces that its Inpatient Unit has re-opened, on schedule, after planned repairs and refurbishment work.

Speaking about the re-opening, Declan Carroll, Chief Executive of Peace Hospice Care, said: “I’m very pleased that the work has been completed on schedule.  We can now,  once again, provide Inpatient support to those people with life-limiting illness in our community.  Our improved facilities will help create a modern and relaxing environment for patients and their families at what is, very often, an emotional and challenging time.”

Natalie Parkins, from Natalie Parkins Design, designed the ‘new look’ patient facilities and JB Commercial Interiors carried out the repairs and refurbishment work in the Inpatient Unit.

The work took a total of six weeks and involved repairing flooring damaged by flooding in 2016 as well as modernising all patient bedrooms and bathrooms – new fixtures and fittings as well as decoration.

These facilities had not been updated in over 15 years and were in need of modernising to make them fit for purpose.

The Patient bedrooms and bathrooms have now been completely modernised, with new fixtures and fittings installed, as well as a new coat of paint, following damage caused by flooding last year.

The costs for the planned refurbishment work were covered by restricted funds i.e. fundraising that has been secured with the specific purpose of modernising the patient bedrooms and bathrooms.
