The man was replying to an ad for a £2,000 van for sale when he was ambushed

 

Dashcam footage recorded the terrifying event of a man being shot at and rammed off the road by travellers after he went to buy a van from them.

 

The man, who wants to remain anonymous, believes the sale was set-up to lure him to the caravan site to steal his money and identification to blackmail him.

 

The shocking video shows the moment he drives into the Sandy Lane caravan park in Watford after he responded to an advert on Autotrader for a 2005 Ford Transit costing £2,000.

He is seen pulling into the park where he spots a group of roughly eight travellers. He is within three seconds unexpectedly shot at. One [shot] hit the bumper and two hit the windscreen, sort of at eye level.

They were clearly waiting for me. They knew that I was coming.'

 

He He immediately reverses his car and Driving back onto the busy A41 the man tells his passengers in the car to call the police.

 

But then a 4x4 overtakes and pulls up beside them , the driverstaring right at him as they try to ram him off the road.

 

The incident, which occurred in the evening approximately two years ago, doesn't end there.

He says, I have been in shock from the altercation and thats why it has taken him so long to share his dash cam footage that recorded it.

 

I was traumatized by the event and I thought it would be good to get the awareness out there.'

 

He told MailOnline that he followed up with the police a few times, eventually learning that they had arrested someone who had been released on bail.

He said: 'I think the police are afraid of the travellers. They don’t feel like they have a grip on them. They're not registered anywhere and its extremely difficult to identify them.' 

 

The man also reported the incident to Autotrader.
