London Bus Man Jailed For string of ‘Revolting’ Sex Attacks
A 51-year old Harrow man has been jailed for 30 weeks for ‘revolting’ sex attacks on women on North London buses.
Gunasingham Elangkumaran from Harrow pled guilty to two counts sexual assault and has been sentenced to 30 weeks' imprisonment and registered on the sex offenders for seven years.
This first attack was on the evening of Monday 20th June. Elangkumaran boarded a route 38 bus on Rosebery Avenue, London EC1R and sat right next to a 36-year old woman, even though the bus was half empty with many seats available. But before he got off he touched the woman before getting off one stop later.
Then on Monday, 18 July, Elangkumaran carried out a similar offence on a 38 bus near Angel underground station.
- At just after ten he boarded the bus and sat next to a 23-year-old woman who was asleep on the lower deck. The woman woke up after she felt someone touching her, only to find Elangkumaran's hand on her hip. He immediately got off at the next stop.
Detective Superintendent Adnan Qureshi, of the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: "This was an excellent result, which has seen a perpetrator of a revolting, sexually motivated offence receive time in jail and entry onto the sex offenders register.
"I urge anyone who experiences any kind of assault or unwanted sexual behaviour to report it to police immediately, as it can help us target the perpetrator and prevent it happening to another passenger.
"If you commit an offence on London's transport network, we will pursue and arrest you."
Meanwhile in Australia - A FEMALE school bus driver allegedly sexually assaulted her 14-year-old passenger after sending him nude Snapchat pictures.
