Tom of Abbots Langley has been chosen to represent England's Judo Championship 2017

Hertfordshire Boy to represent England's Judo Championship 2017 Tom gets Gold at the England Open Championship and is currently ranked number 1 in the UK

Tom Lish from Abbots Langley has been selected to represent England at the forthcoming Bremen Judo Championships in March!

 

The 16yr old, medalled at the British Championships last December 2016, and has been selected to be a member of the 'British Judo Association' England Squad.

This selection for the Bremen Cup is testament to his hard work and dedication.

 

Also shortlisted for the award of Senior Squad Player of the Year which will take place at the British Judo Council Awards Dinner next month.

 

Black Belt Thomas has been training regularly three days a week, mainly with Rush Judo in Berkhamsted, at the Camberley Judo Club. With one day at St Albans Judo Club, and visits to the NRG Gym in Watford.

 

As a result of a 7th place finish at the Spanish European Cup last weekend, Tom is now ranked 39th in the world for the Heavyweight under 90Kg category.

 

In July 2016 he passed his BJA Dan grade.

 

His mum Claire said "I had a feeling he would be tall and strong when his voice broke one morning when he was only Ten"

 

Alongside A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Computer Science, he is also completing the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence and his School, Watford University Technical College have been an incredible support in allowing him to pursue his judo alongside a tough A-Level Curriculum.
