Dangerous Fire on Purpose at Petrol Station in Oxhey Herts police have released images of two boys they would like to speak to

The incident happened between 1.30am and 1.50am on Friday, September 15 at the Tesco Express petrol station in Prestwick Road.

Officers investigating an incident of arson in South Oxhey have released images of two boys they would like to speak to as part of their investigation.

Between these times, offenders have entered the car park and set light to several metal cages containing cardboard and plastic.

The flames then spread to nearby fencing panels before the offenders used fire extinguishers in an attempt to douse the flames before they left the scene, however they were unsuccessful.

DC Paul Burton, from the Three Rivers Local Crime Unit, said: “This was a deliberate and dangerous act that could have had serious consequences given the location. The fire service was called to extinguish the flames and luckily no one was injured as a result of the offender(s) actions.

“We are keen to trace the boys pictured as they may have witnessed the incident and have vital information that could assist our enquiries. I appreciate you cannot see their faces clearly but one of them is wearing distinctive trousers that may be recognisable.

“If you know who they are, please call our non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference C3/17/1230
