The Watford Borough Council has on Tuesday approved a revised planning application form Fairview Homes.
Redevelopment of the site to provide 127 residential units in 5 buildings ranging from 3 to 5 storeys in height, with associated parking, communal landscaped amenity areas, secure cycle parking and other associated development.
Fire Safety and has been a concern in approving the planning application to include the provision of fire hydrants, if possible.
Flood risk was another concern to protect in critical storm weather events in line with climate change.
Cllr Jeffree added: “The site has been vacant for a very long time and will never come back into use as a bus garage, and has deteriorated, leaving it open to becoming a focus for anti-social behaviour.
“It is important for the community to now see it evolve and put to a new use, becoming a pleasant place where people can settle and make their homes.”
